Level 9 : Blinds 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante
Matt Vengrin
Matt Vengrin

Matt Vengrin opened to 3,500 from the cutoff and found one caller in Eric Froehlich in the small blind.

Froehlich check-called a 3,500 bet from Vengrin on the K24 flop and a 10,000 bet from Vengrin on the 9 turn.

However, Froehlich check-folded after a lengthy tank facing a 45,000 barrel from Vengrin on the J river — sending an nice pot Vengrin's way.

Moss Picks up from Picardi

Level 9 : Blinds 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante

Matthew Moss opened to 3,500 from the cutoff and Vincent Picardi three-bet to 10,000 on the button. Randy Jacks called from the small blind and Moss also paid the extra to see the 335 flop.

All action checked around to see the 6 turn and Jacks checked. Moss bet 11,000 and only Picardi called.

A 5 river saw Moss bet 25,000 which was too much for Picardi and he mucked his hand, giving Moss a good chip up.

On a heads-up flop of K54, Sargon Guliana check-raised all in for 27,500 in the big blind. Pierre-Alexandre Lessard in the cutoff had bet 3,500 and asked for an exact count, then called a few seconds later with the far larger stack.

Kazuki Sogabe opened to 3,000 from early position and was called by Caio Sobral from the next seat over. Jason Graeb from the hijack and Scott Downes from the cutoff also called to create a four-handed pot.

The 2K6 flop led to a check from Sogabe. Sobral chose to bet 4,000 and was called by Graeb, while the other two players folded.

Both remaining players checked the A turn and the 9 river.

Graeb showed 88, which was good enough as Sobral folded his hand to award the pot to Graeb.

Manjares Stays In Contention

Level 9 : Blinds 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante

Martin Ward was spotted on his way out and the New Zealander said, "I got it in ahead but he flopped it." Ward was at risk with 88 against the AK of Matheus Almeida and fell behind right away to miss out on a deeper run.

Another short stack at risk was Justin Manjares for the last 21,000 with KJ on the button against the 95 of Brian Robinson out of the big blind on a K54 flop. The 7 turn and Q river were both blanks for Manjares to survive.

Mitich Leaves to Applause

Level 9 : Blinds 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante

Joseph McMahon limp called from middle position. Kamil Filali and David Lazowski did likewise from the button and small blind, respectively.

That opened the door for James Mitich to shove all in for 26,000 chips.

"He's all in," said Jacob Mitich, speaking for his dad, who was in a wheelchair and needed assistance to pick up cards and move chips.

McMahon called while Filali and Lazowski got out of the way.

Mitich trailed and got none of the flop 925. He did pick up a straight draw on the 7 turn, but the A on the river put an end to his tournament.

Players at the table gave a nice applause to the father-son duo.

"He did better than me," the younger Mitich said.
