Stabler Willing to Call "Up to 100,000"

Level 9 : Blinds 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante

William Stabler from the small blind and Chris Brewer from under the gun were heads-up to the turn with the board reading K549 and around 15,000 in the middle. Stabler checked to Brewer who bet 12,000, and Stabler put in the call.

Stabler checked a final time on the 7, and Brewer took a moment before he opted to do the same, with his opponent tabling 98 for a pair of nines, which was the winner as Brewer mucked.

"I think I was calling [a river bet]," Stabler added as he stacked his newfound chips, "Anything up to 100,000," despite having just 65,000 behind on the river.

Stephen Graner was the first player to knock out an opponent from the 2026 WSOP Main Event but he won't be the one to claim the coveted gold bracelet. Before the dinner break he had already been chipped down below the starting stack and then jammed the button for around 28,000. Kilian Pousset called in the big blind with the covering stack and the cards were flipped over.

Kilian Pousset: KQ

The board ran out Q94J8 and the superior pair of Pousset sent Graner to the rail.

Leo Bernick never sat down on Day 2abc, according to his tablemates. Bernick began the day with 52,800, but his stack was subjected to the eternal grind of the blinds as it dwindled incrementally.

Bernick's stack eventually was blinded out completely as his no-show resulted in his elimination.

Shulruf Makes the Right Call

Level 9 : Blinds 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante

A pot was brewing between Joel Shulruf and Lawrence Beach with a little over 40,000 in the middle on the turn with the board reading JJ6Q. Shulruf checked to Beach who jammed as the covering stack for 58,000 effective, sending Shulruf deep into the tank.

After a couple minutes, someone at the table called clock. When the floor came over, it was disputed whether or not Shulruf had enough time to act on his hand, with tablemate Nova Baghdasarian coming to his defense. However, the countdown would begin and Shulruf landed on call shortly after.

Joel Shulruf: KK All in
Lawrence Beach: AQ

"I knew that's what you had," Beach lamented as he found out he was in bad shape against Shulruf's kings with a diamond.

The river was the 2, improving Shulruf to a flush as he doubled his stack.

"I thought I had the ace of diamonds," Beach admitted in the post-mortem, "But I didn't want to look back at my cards."

On the turn 8, Kumar checked, Wharton checked, and Gun bet 3,500. Kumar called, and Wharton folded.

Both players checked the river Q, and Kumar turned over J8 for two pair, and Gun turned over 99 for a slightly better two pair and the win.

Karmatckii Says Goodbye to Sugimoto

Level 9 : Blinds 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante

Arsenii Karmatckii put the pressure on Yoshihito Sugimoto from the small blind with a jam, and Sugimoto called out of the big blind to be at risk for approximately 36,000.

Sugimoto held the best of it with five cards to go, but that all changed after the first three cards when the dealer fanned out 7910 to give Karmatckii the lead with a pair of tens.

The 5 turn was of no consequence, and the 8 river was the final card Sugimoto would see as he busted from the tournament.

Vitch Doubles Off Escalera With a Better Ace

Level 9 : Blinds 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante

Action folded to Christopher Vitch who raised to 5,000 in the small blind. Mario Escalera then three-bet to 17,500 in the big blind, and Vitch moved all in for 77,500.

Escalera tanked for several minutes before Vitch called the clock. A tournament official arrived to begin Escalera's 30-second countdown, and he eventually called.

Christopher Vitch: AK All in
Mario Escalera: AJ

Vitch had Escalera dominated, and the board ran out 32265 to keep his king kicker in the lead and earn him the double-up.
