Chip Counts
Joseph Kim got the action started with a raise to 3,500 from early position. Goonjan Mall made the call from the hijack before Liv Boeree raised the price of admission with a three-bet to 11,000 on the button.
Kim reopened the negotiations with a four-bet to 24,000 in response. Mall got out of the picture, while Boeree made the call.
Kim continued for 5,500 on the 6♠3♣Q♥ flop. Boeree followed with a call.
The J♥ turn saw Kim bet 22,000 on fourth street. Boeree scanned her opponent before she opted to end the hand with a fold to award the healthy pot to Kim.
Mehmet Siginc three-bet to then see Jarod Minghini jam for 17,000 on the button and Ahmad Popal do so for little more in the small blind. Jonathan Nebbout as the initial raiser folded and Siginc called.
Jarod Minghini: Q♠Q♣
Ahmad Popal: A♠K♣
Mehmet Siginc: 10♦6♦
The 8♠4♠2♦J♣7♣ board gave last year's eighth-place finisher the triple-up while Popal was left on fumes.
Popal was then all-in the next hand from the button with Joshua Payne and Nebbout getting their chips in as well.
Ahmad Popal: 9♠9♥
Joshua Payne: A♦3♥
Jonathan Nebbout: A♥5♥
The 10♠7♣4♦7♥6♣ board gave Popal the triple-up and more.
The action was picked up on a board of Q♥7♥6♥9♠6♣ with 90,000 in the pot. Chris Dowling in middle position fired 105,000, so Maria Lampropulos who had 110,000 behind went deep into the tank.
Another player eventually called the clock after more than three minutes. However, even after the 30-second countdown, she was unable to make a decision, and her hand was declared dead.
Theodore Doukas checked from under the gun on a board of K♠9♠A♠Q♠, and Alvin Tafalla fired for 6,000 from the button. Doukas elected to continue with a call.
After both players checked the 7♣ river, Doukas tabled A♥K♣ for top two pair, but it was second best to Tafalla's 9♦9♥ for a flopped set.
Brian Smith raised to 3,000 in the hijack. Xue Song three-bet to 9,000 in the cutoff, and Smith called to the 9♦6♥Q♣ flop. Song put another 9,000 into the pot, which Smith check-called.
The duo then checked the 10♠ turn through to the A♠ river. Smith bet small with 7,000, but it was enough to get Song to fold and be awarded the pot.
Ananth Ganesan raised to 3,500 under the gun, which Mike Leah called a couple of seats to his left. When the action folded to Dara O'Kearney in the small blind, he moved all in for 13,000. Ganesan folded, but Leah called.
Dara O'Kearney: A♥K♥
Mike Leah: A♣10♣
It was all over on the turn of the 6♥8♣9♥7♥5♠ board, as O'Kearney improved to a flush to claim a double-up.
Christopher Chaudey raised to 3,500 in early position and Kaito Hashimoto three-bet to 10,000 in middle position. Chaudey then moved all in, and Hashimoto called.
Kaito Hashimoto: K♥K♠
Christopher Chaudey: K♣K♦
Both players turned over two kings and were poised to chop the pot as the flop came 3♣J♠5♣. The Q♣ turn gave Chaudey a flush draw, and he hit his draw on the A♣ river to win the pot.
A devastated Hashimoto slunk back in his seat as the dealer counted out the stacks. Chaudey had 118,000, while Hashimoto had 115,000 and was eliminated.
"You're staying the rest of the day," Chaudey said to his masseuse.
"She's staying with you the rest of the week," another tablemate added.
"My regular one who always works with me wasn't available today, now she's not going anywhere," Chaudey said.
Heads up to the flop of 2♥3♦6♠ with 10,000 sat in the pot.
Monty Klistoff led out for 8,000 from the small blind and was called by Jon Vallinas Santos in middle position.
On the Q♣ turn Klistoff fired a second bullet of 8,000 and Santos flat-called once again.
The river brought the 5♥ and Klistoff loaded up a third barrel of 19,000 and fired it across Santos' bow who almost instantly tossed in the call to table 5♠5♦ for a rivered set but was streaks ahead anyway of Klistoff and his K♣J♥ and total airball.
