Chip Counts
Joao Simao raised to 8,500 in the small blind, and Skyler Dennis called in the big blind.
The 5♠K♥K♣ flop saw Simao continue with a bet of 5,000, and Dennis called.
Simao checked on the Q♣ turn and gave the hand up when Dennis bet 13,000.
Darren Kennedy opened to 5,500 in the cutoff and faced a three-bet to 18,000 from Jarod Ludemann in the small blind, which he called.
Both the Q♥2♣K♣ flop and the Q♦ turn checked through before Ludemann bet 25,000 on the 8♠ river.
Kennedy went deep into the tank, taking several minutes and still seemed no closer to a decision. After trying to pick up any kind of read he could, Kennedy flicked in a chip to call.
Ludemann revealed his A♥A♣, and a frustrated Kennedy mucked his cards.
Action was picked up on the flop of an inflated pot, with around 120,000 in the middle. Small blind Duan Wendong checked over to late position Daan Mulders, who placed 25,000 into the middle on the 6♥6♣2♦ flop. Wendong put in the call.
The turn was the 7♦ and Mulders didn't slow down when checked to. He fired out 50,000, and Wendong called again. He then checked for a third time on the 7♠ and Mulders chucked a stack of green 25,000 chips in, to put his opponent to a decision for his tournament life.
Wendong went deep into the tank, taking some three minutes. After mulling over his decision, he finally released his cards to the dealer.
"New chip leader?" asked Mulders compatriot Michael Hutting, also at the table. Unfortunately for Mulders, Felix Kuemayr might have something to say about that.
Joao Simao opened to 5,500 in early position, which both Andrea Buonocore and Erin Sullivan called in the blinds.
When the action checked to Simao on a 10♣Q♠9♦ flop, he continued for 6,500, and both Buonocore and Sullivan folded.
A couple of hands later, Joel Vazquez limped in from the small blind, but folded when Simao raised to 10,000 in the big blind.
David Cabrera Polop raised to 5,500 from early position and Robert Carswell three-bet to 12,000 from the small blind. Polop came along with a call.
Carswell continued for 7,000 on the 5♥K♦10♠ flop, but Polop quickly raised to 28,000. Carswell shook his head, gave his cards one last look, then sent them into the muck, surrendering the pot to Polop.
Illia Hurin opened to 5,000 from middle position before Jonathan Nebbout made it 13,000 from the hijack. Wooram Cho came along with a cold call from the big blind.
Hurin wanted to play for it all, and shoved for 40,500 total. Nebbout made the call. Cho gave it some thought, but decided against continuing and made the fold and sent Hurin and Nebbout to a showdown with Hurin at risk.
Illia Hurin: K♥K♦
Jonathan Nebbout: A♣J♣
Hurin was the beneficiary of a healthy lead as he needed to fade the ace, but the flop was bad news for Hurin as it fanned out 6♦A♠7♦ to give Nebbout a pair of aces.
The 8♦ turn gave Hurin some hope as he improved to a flush draw,
Instead, another ace appeared on the river when the dealer peeled the A♥ to improve Nebbout to trips and eliminate Hurin from contention.
On a board of J♣J♥6♥Q♦8♣ with 25,000 in the pot, Timothy Shifflet on the button ended up moving all in and was called by Michael Burke in middle position.
Timothy Shifflet: K♣J♦
Michael Burke: J♠8♦
Both players flopped trips, but Burke improved to a full house on the river to eliminate Shifflet.
"What a great river," he said before leaving.
