Valentin Vornicu opened to 1,600,000 from early position, holding J♠8♠. Joao Simao opted for just a call with A♥A♣ from the cutoff, and the two went off to a flop.

Vornicu continued for 1,800,000 on 3♣2♦7♥ before Simao placed in a raise to 4,200,000. Vornicu, undeterred, put in a three-bet to 9,800,000. He then slowed down on the K♣ turn, as action checked through to the J♣ river.

Simao, BET 8,500,000, not leaving much behind. Vornicu went extremely deep into the tank. After three minutes of deliberation, he slapped the chips down to see the bad news.
