Arie Kliper jammed the button for 1,640,000 and Juan Rodriguez made the call from the small blind, looking to send another player to the rail.
Arie Kliper: A♥6♥
Juan Rodriguez: A♦9♣
Kliper was in bad shape with the dominated ace, and neither player improved on the Q♣7♣8♥Q♠4♦ runout.
Rodriguez's ace-nine high remained best, sending Kliper out in sixth place while Rodriguez added more chips to his already huge stack.
Kenneth Kim moved all in from the cutoff for 3,820,000, and Juan Rodriguez called from the button with the adrenaline still pumping from his last big flip.
Kenneth Kim: A♣J♥
Juan Rodriguez: 9♠9♣
The rail yelled, "Stay low." The board obliged with 4♥7♣4♦K♠5♥, and Rodriguez won his second big flip of the day.
Arie Kliper raised to 400,000 from the cutoff and Kenneth Kim called from the button. For the second hand in a row, Juan Rodriguez squeezed all in from the blinds. Kliper quickly called, while Kim got out of the way.
Juan Rodriguez: A♠J♦
Arie Kliper: 10♥10♦
It was a flip, and Rodriguez's rail immediately began calling for an ace. They didn't get one, but the 7♥J♠6♦ flop delivered a jack to put Rodriguez in front.
As the dealer prepared to run out the rest of the board, Rodriguez repeatedly shouted, "Hold, hold!"
The 7♦ turn and Q♣ river changed nothing, and Rodriguez began to celebrate with his rail, shouting, "Let's go! Let's go!" as he secured the double-up.
Nariman Yaghmai raised it to 500,000 from the hijack with Qing Lu calling on the button and Kenneth Kim coming along from the big blind.
Upon seeing the dealer fan the 6♦J♥9♣ flop, Kim immediately jammed for 2,580,000.
Yaghmai and Lu quickly got out of the way, and Kim dragged in the pot uncontested.
Nariman Yaghmai raised the button, and Qing Lu called from the big blind.
Lu check-called a continuation-bet of 280,000 from Yaghmai on the 5♣9♠8♦ flop.
The 3♦ turn checked through, and the 4♠ completed the board. Lu fired out for 600,000, and after giving it some thought, Yaghmai made the call.
Lu showed a complete airball with 10♠2♠. His ten-high was no good against Yaghmai's Q♥5♥ for just a pair of fives.
Marc Rivera raised from under the gun to 380,000, and Nariman Yaghmai called from the big blind. The flop looked like a big blind special with 2♥5♣3♦, and Yaghmai checked while Rivera bet 500,000. Yaghmai called.
On the turn 6♥, Yaghmai took the lead and bet 750,000. Rivera flat called.
The river Q♣ slowed down Yaghmai, and he checked. Rivera went into a think tank and moved all in for 2,040,000. Yaghmai folded.
On one of the first hands of the day, Chad Lipton checked from the big blind on a board of J♠4♥2♦4♣, and Marc Rivera checked behind from middle position.
A 7♣ hit the river and Lipton bet out for 300,000. Rivera tank-folded, and Lipton was the first player to chip up at the final table.
A few hands later, Nariman Yaghmai three-bet jammed from the big blind over an Arie Kliper hijack open to take down the pot preflop.
Then, Yaghmai completed from the small blind and Rivera checked his option in the big blind.
Both players checked the 2♦9♥4♦10♣Q♣ runout all the way down. Yaghmai turned over 9♣3♣ for a pair of nines to win the pot.
The tournament is officially underway, and seven rested seniors are ready to battle it out for the bracelet.
