There’s no denying that the World Series of Poker (WSOP) experience has been amplified thanks to the advent of fantasy poker. The Daniel Negreanu 25K Fantasy League, which debuted back in 2011, is in its 14th year, while the complimentary $500 ODB League, run by David “ODB” Baker and his wife, Nicole, is in its 11th year.

Indeed, this year’s ODB League is the biggest and best, with a massive 1,202 teams that each ponied up $500 to create a $601,000 prize pool. The top 100 teams will get a minimum of $1,000, while the winning team will earn a $100,000 top prize.

Earlier this month, ODB sat down with Donnie Peters on the PokerGO Podcast in which he opened up about his passion for poker, playing against the best players in the world inside the PokerGO Studio, and the history of the ODB Fantasy League.

Dinner Break

Level 36 : Blinds 300,000/600,000, 600,000 ante

The remaining five players have been sent on a 60-minute dinner break and will return at approximately 7:00 p.m. local time.

Action will resume with blinds at 400,000/800,000 with an 800,000 big blind ante.

Nancy Birnbaum
Nancy Birnbaum

On the last hand before the dinner break, Nancy Birnbaum jammed from the small blind for 7,325,000 and Donald Briggs snap-called for roughly half of his stack from the big blind.

Nancy Birnbaum: 88 All in
Donald Briggs: AK

Birnbaum was in another coin flip, with a win set to propel her into second place on the chip counts heading into the break.

The 354 flop kept Birnbaum's snowmen in front, although Briggs picked up a straight draw. The 3 turn changed little, and when the J landed on the river, Birnbaum could finally breathe a sigh of relief as she doubled to more than 15,000,000.

As the dealer wished the players a good dinner, Briggs couldn't resist a joke, quipping, "It's not going to taste as good now."

Birnbaum Doubles Again

Level 36 : Blinds 300,000/600,000, 600,000 ante

Lionel Barracano raised to 1,300,000 in the cutoff and Nancy Birnbaum three-bet shoved for 2,600,000 in the small blind. Barracano called with the covering stack.

Nancy Birnbaum: AK All in
Lionel Barracano: A7

Birnbaum pulled ahead further on the 4AK flop, improving to two pair, but she wasn't out of the woods as Barracano picked up a flush draw on the J turn.

The 4 river was a brick, and Birnbaum doubled to stay alive.

Birnbaum Won't Go Down Easily

Level 36 : Blinds 300,000/600,000, 600,000 ante

With Nancy Birnbaum almost forced all-in from the big blind, Paul McMullin jammed for about 11,000,000 from the cutoff. Birnbaum called when the action got to her, needing to win to stay alive.

Nancy Birnbaum: J10 All in
Paul McMullin: 77

Birnbaum's suited jack-ten ended up as the best hand after the A566Q runout gave her a flush on the river, earning her a double-up to just over five big blinds.

Kevin Song

Kevin Song raised to 1,750,000 from under the gun and Nancy Birnbaum three-bet to 3,500,000 from the cutoff. Song four-bet jammed for 13,550,000, and Birnbaum called with only a couple of big blinds more than Song.

Kevin Song: AJ All in
Nancy Birnbaum: KK

Song had been the overwhelming chip leader with five players remaining, but now found himself on the brink of elimination.

Song found the perfect flop in the form of AJ5, taking the lead and leaving Birnbaum with just two outs.

The rest of the board ran out safely for Song as the 4 and 9 completed the runout, earning him a huge double-up and leaving Birnbaum with just a few big blinds.

Barracano and Briggs Take From Song

Level 36 : Blinds 300,000/600,000, 600,000 ante

Lionel Barracano completed from the small blind and Kevin Song checked his option in the big blind.

Both players were happy to check through the Q10K flop before the 4 arrived on the turn. Barracano bet 1,100,000, and Song folded.

A few hands later, Song raised to 1,300,000 from the cutoff before folding to Donald Briggs' shove of 9,800,000 from the small blind.

Daniel Negreanu and Phil Ivey have a combined 18 World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelets. By the end of the day, that number could rise to as many as 20.

The Poker Hall of Famers both have a shot to win a bracelet, in separate events. Ivey is chasing the biggest win of his career, while Negreanu is attempting to win his second WSOP title in the past three years.

Ivey and Negreanu have won bracelets in the same year twice — 2013 and 2024.

Birnbaum Shows the Bluff

Level 36 : Blinds 300,000/600,000, 600,000 ante

Lionel Barracano raised to 1,300,000 in the cutoff and Nancy Birnbaum flatted in the small blind.

The flop of 346 checked through to the 8 turn, where Birnbaum led out for 1,525,000. Barracano called and the river fell the 9.

Birnbaum moved all in for about 8,000,000 and Barracano tossed his cards into the muck after a moment of thought.

Birnbaum showed QJ for the bluff, and her rail celebrated as the pot was pushed her way.
