This year's nominees for the Poker Hall of Fame have been announced, with the eight individuals now heading to the living members of the Hall for voting.
Each member can vote for up to four nominees, with anyone receiving votes from 22 or more members earns an automatic induction. This change, from a previous "winner-takes-all" format allowing for only one induction per year, was announced earlier this month.
Five of the eight nominees are first-time nominees, having met the minimum age requirement of 40. Eight-time WSOP bracelet winner Shaun Deeb headlines these players, and he is joined by Jason Koon, Isaac Haxton, Chris Moorman and Justin Bonomo.
The remaining 11 players are on a 60-minute dinner break. Play will resume at approximately 7:30 p.m. local time.
Josh Reichard raised to 400,000 from the cutoff. Jose Latorre, who was the big blind, was the lone caller.
The flop hit A♠9♠A♣.
Latorre checked. Reichard bet 200,000. Latorre check-raised to 575,000. Reichard moved all in, and Latorre called.
Jose Latorre: 10♠8♠
Josh Reichard: A♥4♥
Reichard had trip aces, while Latorre had a flush draw. The turn was a brick 5♥, but the 4♣ on the river gave Reichard a full house and another knockout.
Action was picked up with Roman Hrabec all in and at risk against Myles Mullaly.
Roman Hrabec: A♦Q♣
Myles Mullaly: A♠A♣
Hrabec immediately stood up ready to leave when he saw Mullaly's aces but stayed to watch the flop drop. The flop came 8♠K♥J♦ giving Hrabec some hope with a straight draw.
Hrabec decided to stay and see what the two streets will bring. The turn 5♥ was a brick. The 10♦ river was peeled completing Hrabec's straight.
Wide-eyed and visibly amused, Hrabec sat back down as the dealer pushed the pot towards his direction.
Josh Reichard raised to 400,000 in early position and Myles Mullaly three-bet shoved 2,375,000 from the big blind. Reichard called after some thought.
Myles Mullaly: 2♥2♣
Josh Reichard: A♣10♦
The pair held up during the K♠5♠5♣6♣9♠ rundown for Mullaly to double.
"Nice hand," Reichard remarked.
Robbie Bull raised to 600,000 from the small blind, keeping 75,000 chips in reserves. Orson Young raised to put Bull all-in if he chose to call. He did.
Robbie Bull: A♣5♠
Orson Young: 9♣5♣
Bull's ace was the difference in a runout of Q♥10♠Q♠7♥8♣, giving him the double-up.
Josh Reichard in cutoff opened to 400,000 and Caleb Harris on the button three-bet to 1,050,000. Roman Hrabec in the small blind decided to four-bet to 1,900,000.
When action returned to him, Reichard got of the way and Harris five-bet shove for 4,825,000. Hrabec snap-called.
Caleb Harris: K♣K♥
Roman Hrabec: Q♣Q♦
Hrabec was visibly unhappy with what he saw but watched the flop drop J♣2♦5♣. Harris was ahead and had the chance to improve with a flush draw when the 6♣ fell on the turn.
The river 7♣ completed his flush draw for a massive double-up.
Maher Achour raised to 400,000 in the cutoff and John Ciccarelli three-bet to 950,000 on the button. Achour four-bet all in, and Ciccarelli, after double-checking his cards, called all in for 4,150,000 total.
John Ciccarelli: K♠K♦
Maher Achour: A♦8♠
Ciccarelli was in a great spot with his kings and held up during the J♠10♥2♣9♣5♠ rundown to soar to nearly nine million in chips.
Corentin Soulier raised to 400,000 in early position and Roman Hrabec called in the big blind.
The dealer fanned out 8♥10♥2♣. Hrabec checked and Soulier continued for 250,000. Hrabec gave him a staredown before check-raising to 1,000,000. Soulier responded with an all-in shove for 5,400,000.
Visibly frustrated, Hrabec looked at the ceiling, then checked the other table. With nothing happening there, Hrabec called for his tournament life.
Roman Hrabec: A♣10♦
Corentin Soulier: Q♦Q♠
Hrabec had hit top pair but was behind Soulier's queens. However, the 10♣ turn gave him trips to push him in the lead. The 2♥ on the river secured the double-up.
