Winter Misreads the Board

Level 21 : 25,000/50,000, 50,000 ante

No-Limit Hold'em

Sean Winter opened under the gun to 120,000. Eelis Parssinen called from the small blind, and the two went off to a flop.

On 1076 Parssinen checked in flow, and Winter continued for 175,000. Parssinen used a time bank before sliding in a check-raise to 460,000. Winter didn't waste too much time before calling.

Parssinen didn't slow down on the A turn, as he opted for a down-bet to 425,000, burning through a second time extension.
Yet again, Winter came along for the call, bringing in the K river.

Action quickly checked through, and Parssinen tabled A9. Winter looked at the board for about 15 seconds before peeling his cards. He then tabled A8 expecting a chop, but the dealer had to let him know that his opponnent's nine did indeed play, and the pot was awarded accordingly.
