Frydman Eliminated by Truong

Level 13 : 1,500/3,000, 0 ante

On a flop of {6-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{5-Spades}, Michael Frydman had moved all-in, and was matched by Tam Truong.

Frydman showed {q-Spades}{q-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{3-Clubs} for a flopped straight and led Truong who tabled {9-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{2-Clubs} for two pair.

The {a-Hearts} on the turn changed nothing, however, the {7-Hearts} on the river improved Truong to a higher straight and the winning hand.

Xie Doubles Through Pham With a One-Outer

Level 13 : 1,500/3,000, 0 ante

The flop showed {3-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{q-Diamonds} and 30,000 had accumulated in the pot.

Luke Edwards checked from under the gun. Dinh Pham bet 10,500 from the hijack. Hong Xie called from the button. Edwards folded.

The turn brought the {7-Hearts} and Pham bet out enough to cover Xie.

"I'm so far behind," announced Xie, before making the call with 29,000 behind.

Pham tabled {10-Spades}{9-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{7-Spades} and had a set of sevens. Xie showed {k-Spades}{k-Diamonds}{q-Spades}{4-Diamonds} and needed a king.

"I need a king," pleaded Xie, before the dealer placed the {k-Clubs} on the river.

"I had a king in my hand," added Ash Gupta, meaning Xie indeed hit a one-outer to stay alive.

"You have no more lives for the rest of the tournament," joked Mohammed Elkassir after the hand.

Elkassir Rails Haidary

Level 13 : 1,500/3,000, 0 ante
Mustafa Haidary
Mustafa Haidary

There are no friends at the poker tables, a fact that Mustafa Haidary discovered in a hand against his buddy Mohammed Elkassir with the pair clashing in a hand that saw Haidary hit the rail.

Haidary had flopped top set on a king-high flop, and Elkassir had a big wrap and had picked up a backdoor flush draw on the turn, which is when all the chips went in. This duly came in on the river to send Haidary to the rail and shoot Elkassir up to 419,000.

Wang and Truong Battle

Level 13 : 1,500/3,000, 0 ante
Tam Truong
Tam Truong

Two of the tournaments' larger stacks, Jun Wang and Tam Truong, are seated right next to each other and there could well be potential for some fireworks should the due clash in a big pot.

The two recently played a hand, with action picked up on a flop of {q-Spades}{q-Diamonds}{j-Clubs} in a three-way pot involving Christos Giannakelos (big blind), who checked the action over to Truong in the cutoff. Truong tossed out a bet of 12,000, with Wang the only caller.

The {a-Hearts} turn saw the action go check, check, with Truong leading the {5-Diamonds} river for 25,000. Wang made a quick call, Truong flashed the {a-Spades} and Wang rolled over {j-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{9-Spades} for the flopped full house to claim the pot.

Dai Eliminated by Hindmarch

Level 13 : 1,500/3,000, 0 ante
Andrew Hindmarch
Andrew Hindmarch

The floor was just called over to Table 30 to resolve an issue.

The board showed {q-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{3-Hearts} and 154,400 had amassed in the pot.

Dai was sitting in the small blind and had exposed two of his cards, the {a-Diamonds} an {a-Clubs}.

The problem was that Andrew Hindmarch, the other player in the hand, hadn't actually checked behind.

What had happened was that Hindmarch had lifted his arms up and asked Dai how much he was playing behind before lowering them back down to the table. Dai had taken that as a check and exposed his cards. The floor then ruled that Hindmarch or any other player wouldn't lift their arms up and lower them if they were checking. Instead, they would tap the table.

The option was then given to Hindmarch to continue with the hand.

"You can't call now can you?" sighed Hindmarch, before announcing all-in for 95,200. Dai snap-called with less behind.

Dai tabled {a-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} for a pair of aces.

Hindmarch showed {8-Spades}{7-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{4-Spades} for a full house and took down the pot.

Pham Flushes Trayner

Level 13 : 1,500/3,000, 0 ante
Malcolm Trayner
Malcolm Trayner

Malcolm Trayner's tournament is over courtesy of Dinh Pham. With the board reading {8-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{4-Hearts} and 85,000 in the pot, Trayner (under-the-gun) fired out for a pot-sized bet leaving himself 35k behind and Pham put him all-in. Trayner made the call for his tournament life and the cards were turned over.

Malcolm Trayner: {7-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{6-Clubs}
Dinh Pham: {7-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}

Both players had turned the straight, but Pham had diamond outs as well, which duly came in on the {j-Diamonds} river to send Trayner to the rail and stack Pham up to 410,000.

Mansour on the Comeback Trail

Level 13 : 1,500/3,000, 0 ante
Ramin Mansour
Ramin Mansour

With the flop reading {a-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{5-Diamonds} and 37,200 in the pot, an interesting three-way hand played out between Mikael Larsson (big blind), Tao Chen (middle position) and Ramin Mansour (cutoff).

There had already been some betting action from the other two before Mansour had moved all-in from the button for ~65,000. Larsson mulled it over for a few seconds before declaring he was all-in as well and sliding out a 100k tower of yellow chips to represent this fact.

This sent the third man in the hand, Tao Chen, deep into the tank, where he remained for several minutes as some of the other players in the tournament wandered over to watch the sizable pot that was brewing. Eventually, Chen folded, telling the table after the hand that he folded the nut flush draw, and Larsson and Mansour turned over their hands.

Mikael Larsson: {7-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{5-Spades}{x-}
Ramin Mansour: {a-Clubs}{a-Spades}{7-Hearts}{5-Hearts}

Larsson grimaced when he saw how bad a shape he was in, with Mansour holding the case five and dominating his set, and the {6-Diamonds} turn and {k-Hearts} river saw the latter scoop the sizable pot - not bad at all when you consider the fact that Mansour returned for Day 2 with just 17,000 in chips.

Mansour stacked up to 160,000 after the hand, while Larsson dropped to 101,000.

Ekrami Back With a Vengeance; Busts Thurlow

Level 12 : 1,200/2,400, 0 ante
Kamyar Ekrami
Kamyar Ekrami

Kamyar Ekrami made a stylish late entrance, though 2018 PLO runner-up Ben Thurlow probably wishes he hadn't. Ekrami was in the big blind for his first hand of the day

Thurlow was the man driving the action with a pre-flop raise to 6,000 and the freshly arrived Ekrami made the call to take the action heads-up to a {2-Spades}{a-Clubs}{5-Clubs} flop.

This is when all the chips went in; Ekrami checked it over to Thurlow, who continuation bet 9,000. Ekrami busted out the check-raise to 21,000, Thurlow shoved and Ekrami called immediately.

Ben Thurlow: {a-Spades}{k-Spades}{8-Hearts}{3-Hearts}
Kamyar Ekrami: {10-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{4-Hearts}{3-Clubs}

Ekrami had flopped the straight and had Thurlow covered and with the {5-Hearts} turn and {9-Clubs} river not changing this fact, Thurlow hit the rail and Ekrami stacked up to over 350,000
