Wynn Summer Classic Continues With Two Saturday Events

Saturday, May 30, has two events on the docket at the Wynn Summer Classic.

The bigger event, which will dominate the schedule, is set to be the Day 1b flight of the $1,000,000 guaranteed $1,100 No Limit Hold'em event.

The Day 1b flight begins at 11:00 a.m. and will proceed with 40-minute blind levels until just 12.5% of the field remains in play. There are then two more Day 1 flights on subsequent days, with the field combining for Day 2 on June 1.

The second event is a $1,100 No Limit Hold'em Turbo event which will begin at 6:00 p.m.. This event will be a one-day event with 20-minute blind levels and unlimited reentries until registration ends at around 9:00 p.m.

John Juanda Comes Second In Seniors Event

The $1,100 Seniors NLH 50+ event at the Wynn Summer Classic attracted 148 players on Day 1a. Another 486 players rocked up on Day 1b, bringing the total number of entries to 634. Just 60 of these players bagged for Day 2 of the event.

Among them was five-time bracelet winner John Juanda who ultimately came second.

Juanda ended the day in a heads-up battle with Frank Weigel, succumbing in the end to take home a second-place prize of $62,678, while Weigel earned $96,961 for coming first.

Thong Tran came in third for $47,978, rounding out the top three.

Tongguang Sun Is Chip Leader After Day 1a in $1m GTD event

The $1,000,000 guaranteed $1,100 No Limit Hold'em dominated the poker room at the Wynn Summer Classic on May 29.

The event's Day 1a flight collected 265 entries for a prize pool of $255,725 and counting.

A total of 33 of these players survived, earning themselves a spot in the Day 2 field. This group is led by Tongguang Sun who finished the day with 1,032,000 in his stack.

Maxime Chilaud is in second place with a substantially smaller stack of 609,000. They are followed by Miquel Maimes who has the third-largest stack, with 602,000 in chips. However, with more flights to come, these player's fortunes could change in a matter of hours.

There will be three more Day 1 flights before Day 2 kicks off. Day 1b kicks off at 11:00 a.m. local time on May 30. It will be followed by two Day 1 flights on May 31.

The fields will then all combine on June 1 for Day 2.

Casey Hatmaker Wins $1,100 NLH Turbo For $34,848

May 29 saw the Wynn Summer Classic crown Casey Hatmaker victor in the $1,100 Turbo after he won a heads-up battle with Michael Wilklow.

Hatmaker, who has won five WSOPC events (four online and one live), took home $34,848 for his victory.

Wilklow's second-place finish put $21,454 in his pocket while Antonio Galiana Ortega from Spain came third, filling out the podium positions and earning $14,994.

These three players were the top finishers in an event that attracted 132 entries, smashing the $100,000 guarantee with a prize pool of $128,700.

Junior Bags Big as Seniors Field Narrows on Day 1b

Day 1b of the $1,100 Seniors at the Wynn Summer Classic saw another wave of players lock up chips for Day 2, with Daniel De Freitas Junior among the big stacks after bagging 932,000.

He is joined near the top by Rhonda Bargman (752,000) and Alejandro Quattrini (747,000), with James Rone (745,000) and Kfir Nahum (743,000) rounding out a tightly packed top end that will return for Day 2.

A total of 486 entries were recorded in the flight, with 60 players advancing as the $500,000 guaranteed prize pool will be contested by some of our game's more experienced grinders.

Friday at the Wynn Summer Classic brings a packed schedule, with the spotlight firmly on the opening flight of the $1,100 No Limit Hold’em $1M GTD event, alongside the conclusion of the Seniors tournament and a fast-paced evening NLH Turbo.

The day begins at 11 a.m. with Day 1A of the $1,000,000 guaranteed NLH event, as players take their first shot at building a stack in one of the marquee tournaments of the series. At 12 p.m., attention shifts to Day 2 of the $1,100 Seniors NLH 50+, where the remaining contenders return to battle for the title and the trophy.

The action rounds out in the evening with a 6 p.m. NLH Turbo, offering a quicker-fire option for those still chasing a late-night score.

Congratulations to Paul Hizer, who took down the $600 Turbo last night for $14,476.

The former WSOP bracelet winner defeated Spain's Miki Vea Garcia heads-up to top a 99-player field. Three of Hizer's last five poker cashes has come at the Wynn Las Vegas, and he's now got a shiny new trophy to add to his collection.

Also cashing in this event was Hizer's compatriot Matthew Davenport who finished 13th for $1,168.

Yesterday's Seniors event definitely had some star power advancing to Day 2. The $500,000 GTD event got underway, with the starting flight attracting a total of 164 entries.

By the end of Day 1a, just 20 players advanced including John Juanda, Jim Bechtel and Bill Klein. Leading the way is Daniel De Freitas Junior with 932,000. Kfir Nahum is the only other player above 700,000 chips, having bagged 743,000.

The second flight is underway today, with more players hoping to join the Day 2 field.
