Mooney Finishes Off Shaw

Level 22 : 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante
John Mooney
John Mooney

Not long after taking a huge chunk of Carl Shaw's stack in their kings versus queens confrontation, John Mooney ended Shaw's time in the tournament.

Shaw moved all-in in middle position for 315,000, and Mooney called in the cutoff to put Shaw at risk.

Carl Shaw: {q-Spades}{j-Diamonds}
John Mooney:{a-Spades}{k-Clubs}

As he did in their last confrontation, Mooney drilled a king on the flop to take the lead as the dealer spread {k-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{5-Spades}.

The {q-Diamonds} on the turn gave Shaw some hope, but the {4-Diamonds} didn't bring it and he was sent to the rail.

Pecheux Takes Out Jahn

Level 22 : 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante

Erwann Pecheux moved all in preflop over a raise from Soenke Jahn who took his time before the clock was called on him. The floor came over to count it down before he called in the last ten seconds.

He saw the bad news as his {7-Diamonds}{7-Spades} was dominated by the {j-Spades}{j-Hearts} of Pecheux.

The board ran out {q-Spades}{3-Spades}{2-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{a-Spades} and Jahn was eliminated.

In a preflop raising battle, Carl Shaw opened to 40,000 in middle position and was then three-bet in the cutoff by John Mooney to 125,000.

Shaw responded with a four-bet all-in for Mooney's remaining 653,000, which Mooney called to put his tournament life at risk.

John Mooney: {k-Clubs}{k-Spades}
Carl Shaw: {q-Hearts}{q-Clubs}

Mooney was in great shape, which got even better when the dealer laid out a flop of {k-Diamonds}{j-Spades}{8-Hearts}, giving him top set.

The {a-Clubs} and {3-Diamonds} completed the board giving Mooney a big double up to over 1.3 million.

Eduardo Moreno: {q-Spades}{10-Clubs}
Imed Mahmoud: {q-Clubs}{q-Hearts}

Montoya Decimates Start of Day Chip Leader

Level 21 : 8,000/16,000, 16,000 ante

Action was picked up on the river with the board reading {a-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{q-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}. The pot was a large 350,000.

From the hijack Yullian Bogdanov bet the majority of his stack, a bet of about 270,000. David Montoya instantly called from the button.

Bogdanov tabled his hand forcefully as it if it was the nuts but it was merely the {k-Hearts}{6-Hearts} while Montoya showed the {q-Clubs}{j-Clubs} for trips for the massive pot as Bogdanov was left with only a few blinds.
