Abel Runs Out Well

Level 8 : 400/800, 800 ante

Three players checked to Griffin Abel and he bet 3,300 from the hijack on {6-Clubs}{j-Hearts}{k-Clubs}{j-Clubs}. A player on the button called and the river brought the {7-Clubs}. Abel bet 5,000. His opponent tank-called and Abel scooped it with {a-Clubs}{10-Spades} for the nut flush.

Abel's coming off back-to-back 11th- and 10th-place finishes, respectively, at HPT The Meadows and HPT Columbus.

Level 8 : 400/800, 800 ante
Shawn Roberts
Shawn Roberts

After a {3-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}{5-Clubs} flop with over 20,000 in the middle, Shawn Roberts got his stack of about 24,000 in from the cutoff with {j-Spades}{3-Spades} for two pair. He was up against a player holding {q-Spades}{q-Diamonds} on the button and it ran {10-Hearts}, {7-Hearts} to keep the jacks up best. Roberts had his opponent very slightly covered and he dragged the pot.

With four players in the pot and {3-Diamonds}{j-Spades}{4-Spades}{4-Clubs} on the felt, a player in early position bet 5,400 into a pot of around 20,000. Eddie Ochana called in the cutoff, as did a player on the button. The river was a {5-Clubs} and Ochana ripped in for 18,000 after the first player checked. The player on the button called and the third player tanked a long time and folded.

Ochana showed {a-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds} and it was a winner.

Several notables ran dry on chips in the opening minutes of the level but they're likely to be back in action shortly.

James Pupillo Puts the Squeeze On

Level 7 : 300/600, 600 ante

A player opened to 1,300 in early position and got two callers before action folded to James Pupillo in the small blind. He reraised to 6,300 and the opener mucked. The first caller took some thinking time before mucking as well, and the last player followed suit.
