Lucky Number Seven

Level 15 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

Nikolay Vershinin and Mario Perez got their chips in before the flop. Perez was the short stack with 68,000 in chips, and he was at risk with the worst of it. He had {7-Hearts}{7-Spades}, and was up against {A-Diamonds}{A-Clubs}.

The {2-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds} on the flop saved him. The {5-Diamonds} on the turn made things a little scary again, but the {Q-Spades} on the river was a blank and with his set, the Spaniard doubled.

Eliminated

Level 15 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

These players have been eliminated as well. Just 58 remain, making for an average stack of 208,000 (69 big blinds).

Jacks Versus Queens Versus Aces

Level 15 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

Gleb Tremzin ({J-Diamonds}{J-Spades}), Nicolay Langfeldt ({Q-Clubs}{Q-Spades}) and Abbas Morady ({A-Spades}{A-Hearts}) all got their chips in before the flop. Tremzin was the shortest stack with about 80,000, Morady had 105,500, and Langfeldt had them both covered by 67,000.

The {2-Spades}{K-Clubs}{7-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{10-Spades} changed nothing, and Tremzin hit the rail while Langfeldt got knocked back to a mere 22 big blinds. Abbas Morady in the meantime almost tripled up and now plays nearly 300,000.

Pateychuk Wins Crucial Hand, Busts Hadioğlu

Level 15 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

In a pre flop all in between Nuri Hadioglu ({K-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}) and Andrey Pateychuk ({A-Clubs}{Q-Spades}), the best hand before the flop proved best post river as well.

The 60,000 pot went to Pateychuk after a {J-Clubs}{A-Spades}{7-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{4-Hearts} board. Pateychuk, who was leading after Day 1a, has some more breathing room again with just over 100,000 now.

Some Context On Two Bust Outs

Level 15 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

Nicolas Chouity told our colleague from the World Poker Tour Blog how Sotirios Koutoupas found himself eliminated. Evgeny Starikov had limped in, and Koutoupas had isolated with a raise to 8,000. Starikov called, and check-called a 10,000 bet on {J-}{10-}{3-}. The {J-} fell on the turn and the players got their chips in the middle. Starikov had {K-}{J-} for trips, Koutoupas was drawing dead with his {Q-}{10-}.

Antonio Buonanno not only made some chips six-betting Christian Christner, he gained another 100,000 after eliminating Toni Judet. Judet came short with his pocket eights, the Italian chip leader had pocket nines and faced no resistance from the board.

The Rich Get Richer

Level 15 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

Antone Abou Khalil started out oh so well today, but it wasn't enough.

He has just left the tournament after his pocket eights couldn't beat Dmitry Kataev's {A-}{K-}-suited. The ace-king made a flush on the river, crushing Abou Khalil's hopes and dreams of a deep run.

Vyacheslav Stoyanov Eliminated

Level 15 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante
Vyacheslav Stoyanov
Vyacheslav Stoyanov

We're not entirely sure what happened with Vyacheslav Stoyanov today, but he's out of the tournament.

According to the official list, he started out with 265,000 in chips, but he just committed his last 29,000 with {A-Hearts}{Q-Clubs} out of the big blind, and walked into the {K-Spades}{K-Clubs} of Dmitry Bayramov who was seated in the small blind.

The {8-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{6-Diamonds} board made for all blanks, and Stoyanov left after under 45 minutes of play on Day 3.
