Miraculous River Sends Lopez to the Rail

Level 5 : Blinds 300/600, 600 ante

Action picked up on the turn in a three-way pot between Guillermo Lopez from under the gun, Marcelo Giordano Mendes from middle position, and Anton Johnson from the hijack. With the board reading 7326, Lopez had gotten his entire stack into the middle, roughly 30,000, and he was called by both opponents.

On the 9 river, Mendes led for 20,000 into the side pot, and Johnson called after a minute's tank.

Guillermo Lopez: 77 All in
Marcelo Giordano Mendes: 99
Anton Johnson: 76

The case seven rolled off on the flop to give Lopez top set, and the turn gave Johnson top two pair. However, Mendes somehow found the miracle nine on the river, hitting a two-outer to eliminate Lopez and drag a massive pot.

The entire table stood over the board in disbelief at what had just occurred as Mendes stacked his newfound chips and Lopez left the tournament area fuming.
