Matakis Makes Correct Fold

Level 4 : Blinds 300/500, 500 ante

Heads up to the 410A flop, Kenneth Liebegott fired a pot-sized bet of 6,000 from the big blind. Ian Matakis called under the gun, but he quickly folded when Liebegott continued for 8,000 on the A turn.

Liebegott was kind enough to table AK, showing Matakis he had made the right laydown.

Partovi Takes From Takeya

Level 4 : Blinds 300/500, 500 ante

At last year’s runner-up John Wasnock’s table, Shawn Partovi and Naoto Takeya were heads-up on a board of 7KJ610 with 26,000 already in the pot.

Partovi, who was first to act from middle position, bet 7,000, and Takeya called from the cutoff before tabling KQ. Partovi could only show AJ, sending the pot to Takeya.

Mallory Folds Out Two

Level 4 : Blinds 300/500, 500 ante

Brenda Mallory raised to 1,500 in early position, which Daniel Iachan called one seat to her left, and Rafael Reis came along in the big blind.

The action checked to Iachan on a 8810 flop, who bet 1,200, and both his opponents called.

The flush-completing 9 hit the turn, and, when action checked to her, Mallory took over the betting lead, to the tune of 4,000. Iachan folded, and Reis did the same, with the latter flipping over his 109 as he did.

Neumann Sends Brewer into the Tank

Level 4 : Blinds 300/500, 500 ante

Chris Brewer was under the gun and in a hand with Ross Neumann who sat in the small blind. The pair were already on the river looking at a 54289 runout.

The pair were fighting for a 16,000 pot and Brewer had bet out 16,000. Neumann raised to 35,000 and action was back on Brewer. Brewer went into a deep tank, talking about his opponents possible hands, and murmuring the pre-river action.

He was talking mainly to his neighbor about options, "Ace-Seven clubs..?". He continued to say "I don't know, I am probably going to fold anyway".

Eventually he mucked his hand and passed a huge pot across the table. After the hand Neumann showed just half his hand to the table, turning over the A.

Dykes Shoves the Turn

Level 4 : Blinds 300/500, 500 ante

Kenneth Fishman limped under the gun before Robert Fluereci raised to 1,800 on his left, which was called by Thomas Calzone in middle position, Peter Dykes in the small blind, and Fishman.

On the AQ4 flop, Fluereci continued for 1,800 and Calzone called before Dykes check-raised to 5,400. Fishman and Fluereci got out of the way but Calzone put in the call.

The turn brought the 7 as Dykes immediately announced all-in for his remaining 11,000, and Calzone decided to let it go rather quickly as Dykes praised the dealer for his good fortune.

Queens Versus Kings

Level 4 : Blinds 300/500, 500 ante

There were roughly 7,500 chips in the pot on 5J6.

Christopher Guertin in early position checked to Rebecca Lakepool who was on his direct left and she fired out a bet of 3,000, which Guertin check-called.

The 6 did not slow the action down, and Lakepool bet again this time for 5,000, then Guertin called.

Both players checked on the 2 river, then Guertin tabled QQ but could not beat Lakepool's KK.

Players were three-ways on the A47 flop with a pot of around 4,000. Melanie Weisner bet 1,200 from under the gun after being checked to by Ronald Spriggs in the small blind and Takuma Washio in the big blind.

Only Washio called, and the pair saw the 6 river. Action was checked by both to the 2 river and again to showdown and Weisner showed 99 for a pair of nines. Washio tabled his 87 for a pair of sevens having missed his turned straight draw.

Dean Cimera

Hijack Justin Warner bet 1,100 into a pot of 4,500 on the 10510 flop. Dean Cimera called on the button, seeing Warner size up to 3,000 on the 3 turn.

Cimera was not impressed and raised to 9,000. Warner called to the J river, which he checked. Cimera then bet 15,000, quickly being called by Warner.

Cimera tabled J8 for a rivered jack, but Warner had been sitting on trips with K10 to be awarded the pot.
